Sarah Maes
is an avid gardener with a lifetime of experience. She has been active planning, planting and maintaining gardens in Ellensburg since 1989. Even before completing a Certified Garden Designer course in 1997, she has shared her horticultural knowledge, artistic background and love of plants with local gardeners throughout Kittitas County. She has been a past member of the Master Gardener program, held offices for the Queens of Spades Garden Club, taught garden care and craft workshops for adults and children, and volunteered her expertise, creativity, and humor widely in the Valley community.
She favors a naturalistic style of gardening, relying heavily on climate appropriate, draught tolerant, cold hardy plants. She views gardening as a dynamic partnership between the gardener and the natural elements present. By working with the soil, water, sun and our gusty winds, the environment present in our own back yards can become a rich balanced ecosystem.
Her goal is to guide you in creating an enjoyable outdoor space that you will love because it will be uniquely your own.
